Many of us have a bucket list of things we’d like to accomplish before we literally kick the “bucket”. My husband crossed swimming with whale sharks off his list (along with marrying his lovely wife…yes me!) 😀
I have a pretty long bucket list too (which includes never having to do dishes again but not sure that works as a bucket list item?!) However, something I’ve always dreamed of doing is driving a Lamborghini or a Ferrari, but let’s be honest those opportunities are usually reserved for the rich and famous.
But just when I thought I’d have to spend all my life savings to enjoy a phenomenal exotic car ride, I discovered Exotic Rides in Cancun which offers you the opportunity to drive a super car of your choice! While it’s darn near impossible to tear oneself away from the impossibly turquoise Caribbean and find your inner James Bond (or Jane Bond!) this is certainly the place to go if you’re looking for an adrenaline fix.
“What a rush”, “Once in a lifetime,” and “OMG” are some of the typical responses from visitors who get the opportunity to drive these sports cars with professional NASCAR and/or Rally-trained drivers. Exotic Rides has an amazing collection of some of the most powerful cars in the world which includes such makes as Lamborghini, Lotus, Audi, Mercedes, Porshe and Ferrari. They can serve up to 400 people per day but they highly recommend you make a reservation to ensure you have your choice of car.
Before heading out on your exhilarating journey, you will be required to watch a safety video and sign waiver forms. Then you will select the car of your choice and a driver will take you out on the two-kilometer track with a curving circuit and straightaways, allowing for top speeds of up to 240 km/h. The cars are equipped with video cameras which will record your experience for you, along with a speedometer showing the speeds reached.
Being James or Jane Bond for a day doesn’t come cheap. The drives range from $800+ tax for 6 laps in a Ferrari 458 and Mercedes SLS and up 
to $1400 to take a road tour in a Ferrari 458 from Cancun to Playa del Carmen. (*There are a variety of packages ranging in price so check out their website for more info).
