All of us need rest and relaxation from work and the stresses of life, rich or poor…My hobbies include cooking, reading, entertaining, writing, and traveling to the Riviera Maya. But I am also a huge film buff. From the old classics to foreign films I enjoy it all. Although I will say foreign films have probably become my favourite genre of movies in the last 5 years or so.

If you have never been touched by such foreign films as “Like Water for Chocolate, “The Secret in Their Eyes”, and “Biutiful” (yes this is the proper spellling!), then you are in for a “reel” treat in regards to movies produced in Mexico specifically.

I was pleased to hear that the Riviera Maya will be hosting its first ever Riviera Maya Film Festival (RMFF) from March 20th – March 25th taking place in the beautiful areas of Cancun, Cozumel and Playa del Carmen.

The RMFF will promote and recognize the best independent films made in Mexico and other parts of the world by showcasing over 70 films shown in cinemas and natural areas.  If you are the kind of person who appreciates this particular art, then this is totally a must-see for you. Special guests include Ethan Hawke, Clive Owen and Pilar Lopez de Ayala and more.
